Recruitment programmes are undertaken as and when sufficient demand arises, although in recent years there has been at least one programme per annum. The selection process is based on open competition and interview.

The Offices of the Advocate General are supported by a small number of administrative staff and recruitment to these posts is normally handled by the Scottish Executive and the vacancies pages are here.
