Legal staff in the Office of Solicitor to the Advocate General for Scotland and the Legal Secretariat to the Advocate General are part of the Government Legal Service for Scotland (GLSS) and seconded to the UK Government from the Scottish Executive. The recruitment of all legal staff is undertaken by the GLSS, which is a standing conference of various legal offices, and more information on it and the opportunities it offers, including salary scales, can be found here.
Recruitment programmes are undertaken as and when sufficient demand arises, although in recent years there has been at least one programme per annum. The selection process is based on open competition and interview.
